Sonic Drive-In has taken its signature Slush and elevated it to a new floating height.

The Strawberry Shortcake Snowball Slush Float features strawberries and sweet shortcake flavor swirled into the icy slush then served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and sugar crystals on top.

The limited-time treat will be available nationwide starting May 29 for $2.99 for a medium. But, app users can get it today, Monday, May 22, 2023.

"So many guests remember the feeling of enjoying a strawberry shortcake in the summertime, and our new Strawberry Shortcake Snowball Slush Float is reminiscent of that, but with an innovative twist," said Mackenzie Gibson, vice president of culinary and menu innovation at Sonic.

"The swirl of real strawberries with the icy shortcake Slush provides a delicious respite from the summer heat, while the ice cream topped with snow crystals provides a creamy and crunchy contrast for an unexpectedly fun eating experience. This Snowball Slush Float is the perfect summertime treat to sip on while road tripping, heading to the beach or barbecuing with family."

On June 1, Sonic also will launch a new merchandise collection that includes a summer tumbler, a pool float in the shape of a Cherry Limeade drink, a cabana set, a cooler bag, a beach towel, a cooling towel, sunglasses and a T-shirt.

All of the merchandise sales will be donated to the Sonic Foundation to support youth-serving nonprofits.
